Legends of the Laneway

Legends of the Laneway

Discover the heart and soul of Warwick through "Legends of the Laneway," a poignant exhibit that celebrates the resilience and spirit of our community's business leaders. Located along the historic Town Hall laneway, this project immortalizes the stories of twelve local businessmen and women who have not only survived but thrived through adversities like recessions, droughts, and floods. Each portrait, captured by photographer Storm Lahiff, alongside audio narratives produced by Hamish Sewell, offers a raw and powerful look into the lives and legacies that have shaped the Southern Downs.

"Legends of the Laneway" is more than just an art exhibit—it's a source of inspiration and a reminder of the strength that comes from enduring hardship. As you walk down Palmerin Street, take a moment to engage with these larger-than-life figures through the accompanying QR codes. Hear their unedited stories of determination, innovation, and hard work that have not only propelled their businesses forward but also fortified our community.

Organized by the Warwick Chamber of Commerce and lovingly curated by Julia Keogh, this display aims to ignite hope and motivate every visitor by demonstrating that, in times of challenge, perseverance shines brightest. Whether you are a local resident, a fellow business owner, or a visitor, these legends stand as beacons of what can be achieved with grit and persistence.

Join us in celebrating these unsung heroes whose extraordinary journeys contribute enduringly to Warwick’s vibrant tapestry. The exhibit is open to all, with free entry. Visitors are encouraged to download a QR code reading app prior to arrival to fully immerse themselves in the compelling stories of our local legends.
